Naughty Net
Not far from Třeboň are the defunct glassworks in Chlum u Třeboně and in the village of Včelnička, which produced a specific range of products that Michaela decided to work with in the Naughty Net exhibition. The artist involved local residents in the creative process: through an advertisement, she obtained glass from these glassworks – she caught it in her net, incorporated it into the installation, and thus connected the viewer-donor with the newly created work of art.
In the exhibition Naughty Net, Michaela Spružinová also develops a motif characteristic of Třeboň – fish farming, or rather "fishing," which, despite its "banality," becomes the leitmotif of the entire exhibition. The artist approaches the theme of hunting in her own way and finds herself in the role of her own prey: she creates unique glass nets in which she tries to catch her chimera – herself.
In new waters, Michaela Spružinová attempts to navigate all aspects of the phenomenon of fishing and orient herself as much as possible. Spontaneous reactions to a specific place collide with the personal level: the author lives in the immediate vicinity of the Elbe River near Ústí nad Labem, which is characterized, among other things, by the hunting of oversized carp. Inspiration from this "culture," which has also permeated her personal life, combined with her authorial perspective, results in a fragile moment in the exhibition, in which Michaela Spružinová explores the possibilities of contrasts in content and meaning, as well as the boundaries of glass as a material.
